With the number of shark encounters on the rise, including a fatal attack that claimed the life of a young man, fear is keeping people out of the water and impacting the livelihoods of residents who rely on tourist dollars to sustain their businesses.
Great White Summer explores the human stories behind the unfolding crisis taking place on shore. Tensions between scientists promoting more research and changes in human interaction with the ocean aren’t sitting well with some residents. New technologies and innovative approaches offer hope to a community desperately in search of answers.
