Patrick Vaughan
Patrick Vaughan is an entrepreneur and ultra athlete who executive produced and starred in the award-winning documentary Confessions of a Runner.
He was a standout soccer player in his youth until a life-altering disease ended his athletic participation. Later, overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds, Vaughan went on to run his first half-marathon trail race, the North Face Endurance Challenge, and three years later, his first ultramarathon.
After filming Confessions of a Runner, Vaughan went on to host a series of short films featuring ultra-running events and competitors.
American ultra runner Patrick Vaughan sets out to record the fastest time for traversing the rugged 292-mile Lebanon Mountain Trail. In his pursuit, Vaughan is guided and motivated towards his goal by then record-holder Avedis Kalpaklian, an elite athlete and trail runner.
Handheld and drone cinematography showcase the scenic beauty of Lebanon’s mountains, while the film’s focus alternates between the race to the finish and a race to break free from Vaughan’s haunting past. In raw, confessional-style storytelling, the film reveals Vaughan’s personal battles, including his triumph over drug addiction.
